From what I have heard, the plan is December 12th, 2008, except if they get an actor gets injured or something, it can be delayed.

Yes, they have picked the cast. Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory from HP4) is going to be playing Edward Cullen. Kristen Stewart (Panic Room, In The Land Of Women, Speak, etc..) is going to be playing Bella Swan.
The 4th book, Breaking Dawn, is coming out this fall 2008. The rough draft is done, but they still have to edit it. It's about 800 pages long. I'm not sure when Edward's version of Twilight, Midnight Sun would be published, but I think some time in 2009.
For now, Stephenie says that Breaking Dawn will be the last book, but she might change her mind.
Production is set to begin next month. Figure that it will take at least a year and a half, perhaps two years, from the start of photography to the actualy release of the movie. So, perhaps it will be ready by next summer, or maybe the end of 2009.
The announced leads are Kristen Stewart as Isabella Swann and Robert Pattinson as Edward. Mr. Pattinson has been seen by many people, since he played the part of Cedrick Diggory in the Harry Potter movies. As for Miss Stewart, she has been seen before, as Jodie Foster's daughter in Panic Room. So, they aren't going with firstimers.
