thank u have a very very very nice day ;)

No....your mother is trying to scare you into not watching them for whatever the reason.

Probably not. P.s i love Johny boy form the outsiders!

thats exactly what my mom says (eyes roll)
dont listen, only if ur scared, then ull go crazy...

dont worry

u might get a nightmare

lol...I watch horor movies from the age of 6...and uptill now to tell you the truth I'm tired of them...they are pointless and waste of time...except maybe Saw the first part because it has a good messege "to apriciate your life"...anyway what your mother says it's non-sense...I've never had for ex. any nightmares after watching a horror movie...and from doctors perspective horor movies are good for the stimulation of heart beat

There has been research that shows a link between early exposure to violence and antisocial behavior in adults.

It does not matter if the violence is on video or in reality. The child is desensitized to the violence and becomes to believe that violence is normal.

She probably has a good reason for it. I'm a die-hard movie fan, and I've seen kids before who've been obscene or profane or rough towards other people, mainly due to the sources of entertainment that they take in everyday. I've seen friends who started out as innocent and naive, turning into rude people because they've seen a lot of bad movies.

My mom tells me this, too. In fact, it's not just horror movies; it's all rated-R movies in general that she tells me not to watch. However, I personally believe that I have the self-control, especially when watching movies, and the maturity to know the difference between right and wrong, and my mom sometimes agrees. If you're honest with yourself and believe that you won't go "crazy" or "psycho" then I say go for it. Watch those movies!

No, lots of young people have watched horror movies and have grown up suffering no ill effects. If you get nightmares, your mother might want you to stop for that reason.

There is some truth in your mothers "out there" statement. If all you put in to your mind at a young age is gruesome violence. You may grow up to start practicing some of these behaviors because it is all you ever knew at an age when your mind is still developing. Or it could truamitize you without you knowing it. And the first time you see something disturbing truley happen, you could have a pretty bad emotional/mental breakdown. I'm not saying ditch the horrors-I love them personally. Just broaden your horizons, be more open minded. Watch a romantic comedy now and then.

no you wont go crazy. it could make you a little paranoid but you'll probably be fine.
