Question: Absolutely amazing
very nearly made my best film of all time, only closely beaten by Unbreakable, by the same writer.
Its not supposed to be about Aliens, thats just a subplot. The real storey is about a man who loses his faith cause of tragedy.
He meets adversity (aliens) and fights to protect his most cherished possesions (family) - he wins, and he realises that in life bad things happen - and every bad thing happens for a reason, and in his case, his wifes death saved his family.
Its something I have taken on board in my life, just believe that every single bad thing that happens means something somewhere else. Even if you dont believe in fairy tales, or god (like me), if you dont realise this - you will never be happy
Truly inspiring, and if you want aliens - watch Alien.

I personally wasn't too impressed with this film.
I thought it was great. Very suspenseful with some humor.
It's not one of M. Night Showaddywaddy's best films.

I liked it, not scary or anything just plain freaky, makes you think a little, and the little girl, my word she is one creepy lil thing! And the lil boy is just weird, Good film though
Not impressed at all and was surprised as I thought after 6th sense and Unbreakable it would be really good. Enjoyed The Village though so still have faith in M Night Shyamalan.
Haven't seen it myself but I like what women want with Mel Gibson

It was pretty awful There were some good comedic moments early on, but the whole alien plotline made NO sense. A race that advanced with technology sufficient to reach earth- and of all the places they could go, they pick a planet whose surface is mostly covered with something deadly to them? That same advanced race can't figure out locked doors or the concept of protective clothing??
Yikes!!! Those are signs of a bad movie.
It's OK. Mel gibson did a good job and I love Abigail Breslin! But it lacked the surprise of Shamalan's Sixth Sense. If you've got nothing better to do, give ot a look see. If there's something else going on, don't stay home to watch this one -- you'll regret it.
Ive got to admit, the first time I saw it it freaked the **** out of me. Ive seen it too many times now to be scared by it anymore. Its got a good story line though and it makes u think could it really happen. Oh and I love those tin foil hats! lol

M. Night's Movies are Good, I like his style of storytelling and the stoies he tells.
The Aliens and how they are defeated was a kinda cheesy. Like someone else mentioned, why an intelligent race of beings would come to a planet that is 75% water is a horrible tactical decision for invasion....
But then again, you could aregue that they are Aliens. If they have no water made of H2O on their planet, then they have no idea when ivading that the earth water is harmfull to them..... Hmmm.....but if they're so advanced then they should have been able to analyze the atmosphere are chemical elements of the surface before hand. humans don't have interstellar travel but we can tell what a plat is made up of and what gasses are in it just by light waves and all otehr kinds of scientific stuff. We KNOW the surfase of Europa is dangerous.
not the greatest film ive ever seen but its watchable.
It's quite boring...apparently it was better at the cinema makes you jump more. I was looking forward to it being scary and it just wasn't. Not bad though, if you've got nothing better to do.
I thought it was a bit of a let down. It seemed pretty good initially but the suspense went on for far too long and the ending was poor. It's watchable, but not brilliant.
Mate "Alien" is on film4. Watch that instead.
Glaring error on behalf of the aliens. Equivalent of sending your army to Iraq and being surprised to find sand.
I doubt the aliens would have got very far from their ships with their vulnerabilities. In fact if they attacked my house right now they wouldn't have a chance.
