Was anyone else over 30 surprised by the movie Transformers?!

Question: These toys were after my time as a kid, so I really knew nothing of them and thought it was a dumb phase that kids went through in the 80s or 90s. Anyhow, I rented the movie and it was freaking AWESOME!

It had every cool think I like in it: constant action, cool aliens, it was super funny, sci-fi gadgety things, cars, hot woman, space guns, government cover ups, jet planes...I could go on, but you get the picture.

So I skeptical when I put the DVD in, but it took maybe 5 minutes and I was sold. This is the best movie I've seen in a long time for purely the entertainment factor.

I am only 25 but I friggin LOVED the movie. It was a bit different from what I remember from the 80s.. but.. yeah, it was awesome, wasn't it??

I played with the toys as a child. It was the last line of toys I got into heavily.

And I hated the movie. It, like all Michael Bay movies, was such a mess. Too many characters, none of whom I felt an iota for. The robots didn't have enough distinction so that for the final battle I really couldn't tell who was who.

I think the worst was when one of the robots "peed" on a human.

i liked the toys... gobots were better made, but the old transformers cartoon was pretty good

It was better than I anticapated, but special effects on battle scenes were extended to long.

Would still rate it an average movie when you add the plot into consideration. Humor was best part of movie for me.

I used to watch the cartoons with my son, who is now 23. I enjoyed the cartoons but I also was skeptical about the movie. I absolutely loved the movie and hope they make more.

I was surprised by how much the movie sucked. If they were trying to recapture the magic of transformers with a movie that kids in the 80's watched who are now late 20's to early 30's, why would they make a movie geared towards 13 year olds. It had ridiculously corny gags like a transformer peeing on someone, then the whole scene where the transformers are hiding outside while the kids parents talk to him about masturbation. I'm surprised a Transformer didn't slip on a banana peal or step in dog poop, maybe they did I pretty much tuned out early on. Oh how far Spielberg has fallen to produce a piece of trash like this. It really makes me sad.

I thought it was mediocre, but was definitely worth catching in the theatre, which I did (and am glad). Lots of **** got blowed the hell up though, which is nice.

Oh, I'm 27. I remember the original (all-metal) toys, which were godamn awesome. Way better than this plastic garbage kids have now.
.

I'm 42 and I'm a robot in disguise!

i'm 32 so i grew up in the G.I Joe transformer era, what i got a kick out of was the fact that they brought in the guy who voiced the first prime from the original cartoon, being a sci/fi super freak also helped in how much i enjoyed the movie
