Did Sarah get cancer from the T-1000?!

Question: In T3, my first reaction when I heard that Sarah Connor died of cancer was that she got it from coming in physical contact with the T-1000 in T2. As you'll recall, the T-1000 speared her shoulder with his index finger.

Did anyone else have this thought? Does anyone know of anything in the Terminator's "expanded universe" that might support this idea?

Thanks in advance for your answers..

T3 claims Sarah died from leukemia, which one could get from exposure to ionizing radiation (fallout, radon, space rays, even x-rays). I have to admit I've no idea how possible it is to get cancer from an being who may have had such contact. Heck, Sarah makes love with Kyle, and one has to wonder how much radiation he's been exposed to.

There again, she's supposed to be dead by 1997, and the new Sarah Connor Chronicles start out in 1999. While the show wants to give her an illness, they don't seem to concerned on matching the original time frame. Guess we'll see where this goes.
