Aw man!!! I can't remember the name, but I saw it... The mother kept leaving the kids alone for longer and longer periods of time. I think the son had to end up caring for his younger siblings. The electricity and water eventually got turned off and they had to go out to get water and take baths. The son made friends with this school girl who helped him care for the kids sometimes. Near the end the youngest little girl fell off of a chair & died and they buried her in this field.

I know that will be a remake based on a Japanese family who lives in a middle class African-American neighborhood where the mother is Japanese and the father is black(who fought in the war whom married a Japanese girl) and the story will focus on the mother who leaves the son/daughter has to take care of the family while the father is away. The children are interracial(half black/half asian). This one will not in Japanese but some of it will be in English subtitles. They don't have a title for it but the name they picked will be called
"Edith,Suzuki and Herimoto". Bobby Lee of MAD TV is set to star along with Lucy Liu.
