When buying a DVD, what's the difference between "unrated" and &qu!

Question: Unrated doesn't actually mean that it will be any dirtier or more violent than the rated version. Unrated just simply means that that version of the movie was never submitted to MPAA for a rating, thus is unrated. Could be something like adding a minute of footage to the movie that was orginally cut.

The reason that they put unrated on DVDs is because unrated DVDs sell more copies than the rated one because people feel like they are going see more rauchy material or more awesome violence. Sometimes there, sometimes there isn't, it just really depends on the movie.

The unrated versions are dirtier.

Rated versions are the theatrical releases that were submitted to the MPAA and given a rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17)

Unrated versions have extra scenes, usually scenes that were cut out to go from NC-17 to R. These versions were never submitted and are therefore "unrated"

Unrated versions arn't in the sense unrated, they usually still carry a MPAA rating. However they do usually contain more violence, sex and language.

Further, when a movie is slapped with big 'UNRATED' across the front it usually means it wasn't very good in the first place and it's used to gain more attention and boost sales. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule.

Lastly, unrated versions can sometimes differ from what the director usually had initially intended for the movie and hence the regular version may be better.

added features, commentaires, deleted scenes are all not rated because the only part of the film that gets rated is what is shown at the theater.

The "unrated" version usually has extra footage that was cut in order to have a R rating. Or in some cases scenes filmed differently, with more nudity, for the dvd release. It's normally just a few seconds.

unrated has the good stuff
