Why is it that a lot of the Disney Character's parents are either dead or go!

Question: Except for The Incredibles, Disney movies always have where the parent of a child is either dead or gone...Why is that? Chicken Little (mom died), Toy Story 1&2 (Father was missing), Bambi (mother was killed), The Lion King (Mufasa died), Brother Bear (little bear's mom died), Finding Nemo (Mom died), the list goes on and on, but here are a few obvious ones. But I want to know, why?

Disney movies (and Pixar movies, mostly) are almost always aimed at kids who are at the age where they're starting to make the transition from being a baby that's dependent on parents and adults to a person who is - to some small degree - an autonomous, "independent," and self-reliant person. The easiest way to make this happen in a film is to disrupt the traditional concept of the complete, nuclear family (consisting of mother, father, and baby) by eliminating one of the parents. Think about it for a moment, and you'll see that all of the characters you mentioned are, essentially, babies.

Chicken Little? Baby chicken.
Toy Story? Woody & Buzz are suddenly independent of their "family" and left on their own.
Bambi? Baby deer.
Lion King? Baby Lion.

etc...

At the very core level, the classic Disney formula is to appeal to kids who are watching and thinking "holy cow! This is *exactly* what I'm going through!" and adults who are either thinking "Holy cow! I remember feeling like that!" or "Holy cow! This is what my kids must be going through!" or "Holy crap! They're re-releasing this *again* on HD and then 'putting it in the vault' again? I am NOT buying a seventeenth copy of 'Aladdin' on 'Super-Mega-Ultra-Limited HD-Blu-Special-Ray Now-With-Hannah-Montana-Autograph For-No-Damned-Reason Edition DVD."

Also notice that in 99% of the movies in Hollywood involves death.

I have always wondered that as well! I dunno, maybe so it appeals to a wider audience because the story lines are always so ''happily ever after'', they can't make it too perfect, it'd just be sickening and people couldn't relate.

true why is that

I dont know why, but I did read that in a book. I was wondering the same, I think its just to make the storyline better.

Because Disney likes to milk the sob story angle.

i guess they want to focus more on the kid or they want you to feel sympathy for the kid or it helps for the movies plot. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... they just want to. :-)

Because the stories end well, so they have to have a place of hardship that the characters come from, something that they overcome. You can be a "success" even if things have gone bad in your life.

Because it adds drama, and more people can relate. There are a lot of people who don't have both of their parents.

because they dont want to make more charators.and their too Lazy

Probably because Sylvester the Cat and his son have the Parent-Child market cornered.

When in doubt, go for LooneyTunes. They deal with real issues, not useless emotional rhetoric.

Astute observation on your part. Hat's off...

I think because it adds more drama to the movie good luck finding out

It creates a problem....Sleeping Beauty has parents. It just is an attempt at real life; but remember, most Disney movies are based on other stories, like Cinderella was written by the Brother's Grimm, just simplified down so it's not as scary; Lion King was based on Hamlet, and so on...

because peaple think of it as drama wich gives it ettter ratings and they get more money out of it. like bambi it was a classiv already only because its about a deer going on adventures because its moter died!!! i mean i know i dont want to watch a deer for 2 hours but peaple just like drama!!!

please vote me best awnser thank bye!!
