What movie inspired Gozilla and Cloverfield?!

Question: Godzilla wasn't the first giant awakened by an atomic blast.
This movie monster also ran wild in New York City.
It even featured a Coney Island scene near the end. Hmmmm.
It came from the deep ocean.
It dropped small somethings from its body that was deadly to humans.
It mainly walked on four legs like Cloverfield.
It even stood above a helpless human, reached down with his giant head, and ate him.
People are so obsessed with Godzilla, that the Cloverfield makers thought we had forgotten about this classic, but I had a weird sense of Deja vu.
If you had seen this movie, would you agree?

Every giant creature movie is influenced by King Kong.
If no one can guess which movie I'm talking about, I'll post the name and a couple of links.
