`Monster`s Ball` - Hard Porn Passing???!

Question: So what do you think? Is this the most realistic shag you`ve ever seen in a film or does it perpetrate the Black stereotype of hooker and drug addict?

How do white women react to it?

The film`s take I think is an interesting one in that for years Black women occupied in the hearts and minds of white men a special place- an exalted place. That of a sexual goddess. For yonks white men would do with Black women what their white wives wished to G-d he`d do with them. But he couldn`t and/or wouldn`t.

This film, `Monster`s Ball`, might for Black women seem demeaning. But the truth is it is even more demeaning for white women, as it shows that the guy not only exalts in his penchant for Black women but actually sticks with her.

Okay he DID have a white women, and used her in the same way, at the beginning of the film. Still Halle Berry`s character is so overpowering and the message is unmistakable.

So, when porn passes for sex, what chance does any real woman have???

I am still trying to get over the fact that they gave Hallie Berry an Oscar for the scene in question.

I don't agree with this being porn, but the sex in it is graphic, bordering on vulger. It is not pornogrphic. It is not even real but it looks real to some.

If you want a more disagreeable seen with Hallie Berry try watching "Introducing Dorothey Dandridge" and explain the scene where she is forcibly checked out by her guardian and tell me what you think of that scene.

I was not much for "Monster's Ball" as a story to begin with. It seemed to try and equate racism with capital punishment. It was probably just the juxtaposition of the events but had the woman been caucasion, or oriental, or latino and not African-American I would expect the sex to be the same. It was the man's taste. Try watching "Blood In Blood Out" if you want a new perspective on this question. It has a similar sex scene but with latins. It also has a different outcome. You could also watch "Leaving Las Vegas" if this really is something you are thinking about and the participants a caucasion and the scene gets out of hand.

And to be honest, that is no where near the most realist imagery of sex on film. I can think of hundreds more intense and more intimate, and less staged.

Not being a caucasion woman I had to ask one and she reacted as "Why are you asking? I don't care to discuss such matters." The bit about hallie berry being African-American didn't even enter her mind. She was only offended by the sodomy in the film.

So in the long and short of this, it is just another film with a sex scene that some may object to, no better or worse than many I have seen.

And as for the drug addict, check out "Rush" with Jennifer Jason Leigh and you will find the same scene in that movie too.

Have a good day.

WTF are you gibbering about?

Don't watch it

Yea I saw this a long time ago and I still cant figure it out! Its been a long time since i saw it but i think i know what your saying.

watching halle barry gettin nailed by billy bob was awesome!

Well, its a pretty full on scene, I dont know what to say in response to your question, but I find it quite realistic to say the least.
The Pmiester :)

Great movie, great scene.
Lousy mindset you have...
Basically, you think the movie is demeaning for black woman and even more for white ones because when they are both used, the man chooses the black one.
There's is bound to be a logic there, because you strike me as a very articulate person. But I fail to see it.

On a side note... Halle Berry is GORGEOUS. And she will still be gorgeous if her skin was red, blue, silver or polka dot...

Could it be that he chose the gorgeous one?
Would that be even more demeaning for the not-so-gorgeous ones?
;o)

Porn? No,I've seen harder stuff than Monster's Ball.
Racist? You gotta remember Halle Berry is half black/half white. So no I don't think it's racist.

Well first Hally Berry TOTALLY deserved the Oscar for that movie no matter what SOME people might say.

But yo, I think you are missing the point of the movie. It was about Billy Bob learning to stop being so darn racist and to see the beauty in someone else of a different color. I dont think they meant to have any hidden meanings in that film.
