Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are movies to reboot the franchise. Yes, you are correct....the Joker was killed in the original Batman but since these new movies are starting to restart the franchise, you will see the villians over again. Like in future movies we may see Penguin, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze and they were in previous movies. Expect to see Two-Face in the next one and he died in Batman Forever.
I am sure you will know once you watch the movie... how would we know? LOL

The new Batman movies beginning with Batman begins are not continuations of the original Batman movies and were never meant to be. The only resemblance they have is the characters.
The director Christopher Nolan is reimagining the Batman franchise. He is essentially re-doing it and making them closer to the comic books.
It's not a continuing story.
This is a whole different Franchise, if you notice, Batman Begins had a "little bit" of a different feel to it.... duh.
Christian Bale's character is a younger Bruce Wayne then Michael Keaton's character. The original Batman movie was when made in the early 90s. Bruce was meant to be in his 30's then.
This saga consists of Batman in his younger days, probably mid-20s...that's how they are able to relive the villains. These movies are taking place BEFORE the 90's versions...do you get me?
Think Star Wars, and how Vader died....yet we saw him again in the later episodes!
