I find Horrors to funny to take seriously but 28 weeks later was excellent so was dawn of the dead
The new Iam Legend is not very scary (depends who you ask i suppose) but it does have a nice story (dont watch if youve seen Omega man) and some frightning scenes
30 Days of Night and Planet Terror are worth watching as it is considered frightning/freaky
There are some thrillers that are quite good like Panic Room, Breakdown and Collateral all should keep you glued...

A TALE OF 2 SISTERS, its Japanese but a really good horror/thriller. keeps ya guessing.
How about something old school like Sleepaway Camp or that new movie Hatchet ( I really liked that one). My sis went and saw Cloverfield and she really liked it. She said it was really different. As far as thriller, I would have to say my all time fave is The Usual Suspects. Oh yeah....I almost forgot, I like that movie Planet Terror too.

Van Helsing starring Hugh Jackman thought it was great.
Not a slasher horror film...but Donnie Darko is really dark and chilling. Classic. A bit dated but brilliant.
Disturbia is a good one!!
oh my god see the descent! its bloody good! totally recommended or original alien. 'it' was pretty freaky but that's really old!
Valentine! its a really good film, it is based more on the story than the horror aspect of it but it has a really good storyline.
