Look, the only action guy worth watching is Matt Damon aka Jason Bourne aka David Webb. He rocks! I never liked action movies or books until I saw the Jason Bourne series. I have actually started reading the "action" books lately. The Boune Legacy and The Betrayal
WELL ZORRO, IT'S PRETTY SIMPLE THESE NEW SUPPOSEDLY ACTION STARS ARE NOT REAL ACTORS! THEY'VE COME FROM FORMER CAREERS AND THEY JUST CANNOT ACT AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO PRODUCE OR DIRECT THEIR OWN MOVIES, LIKE THE CLASSIC ACTION STARS! TAKE CLINT EASTWOOD, HE WAS ALWAYS A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO DIRECT QUALITY ACTION MOVIES THAT ENHANCE HIS OWN TOUGH QUALITIES! ALL, OF THE OLD SCHOOL HEROES HAD THEIR OWN UNIQUE WAY OF BEING A TOUGH GUY! JOHN WAYNE HAD HIS STARE AND A GOOD FISTER AND SHOOTER! CLINT ALSO WAS ABOUT THE SAME WITH HIS GLARING LOOKS COULD KILL, FROM HIS DIRTY HARRY MOVIES! ALSO, CHARLES BRONSON AND CHUCK NORRIS HAD THEIR OWN NICHE IN COMBATTING BAD PEOPLE! THESE NEWBIES ARE JUST NOT QUALITY ACTORS AND THE MOVIE STUDIO'S DON'T HELP THEIR CAUSE TO GET INTO A BETTER WRITTEN MOVIE SCRIPT EITHER! HOPE I EXPLAINED THIS OPINION WELL ENOUGH FOR YOU!!!!!
its not really that stars arent stepping in, its just that they dont make those 80's movie where it is one guy against an army. The Rock and Vin Diesel havent made many good movies. They used to make those movies and it was just one of the big action heros running through killing everyone and spouting some classic one liners(see anything Arnold says in Commando) but now the people who make movies get to in depth and make everything a mystery suspensful type of action movie, when all we want is a high body count, and boobies
The Matrix, Bourne, MI 3, Resident Evil 3.
They are still out there, but a stand alone action movie (unless it's a martial arts movie) are cross bred with another genre.
Most stars don't have the pull of the 80's stars.
Then again look at the humor from the 80's (cheese) to now. If you made an 80's cheese movie now it is hit or miss, not an instant blockbuster.
