I think Johnny deserved to receive a nomination for once! He is such a versitial actor, no two roles for him are alike and with every role he has..he nails it. And he did amazing in Sweeny Todd
the academy lost it ages ago. besides, they're opinion on movies is a little too abstract and artistic for us common folk.
I didn't think American Gangster came out in time for Award consideration this year. I thought it was gonna be next year. I dunno.

Denzel is by no means one dimensional, but he has proven, time and again that he is a solid and good actor. It took Training Day for him before b/c he stepped out of his box of "good guy" to "that ahole!!" This wasn't another step out of the box for him. Trust me, everything is politics. I haven't seen Sweeny Todd and have no clue how Depp performed, but I do know this, he too is a good and solid actor, he plays odd characters and if there is something about the character that brought him to the fore, well, why deny him his nod?
