Scary movies of all time?!

Question: Which movies are the scariest of all time?

Answers: Which movies are the scariest of all time?

Hmm, that would be a matter of personal preference of course but for me personally:

The Shining
Event Horizon

Well, Psycho and Halloween were also scary to me, but then I was a kid when I saw it.
I laughed at Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday 13th was ludicrous, with Amityville Horror I found the true story of far more interest and The Ring I found fascinating and intriguing rather than scary.

In general I found books to be more scary as your own imagination is doing the work of scaring you. The Shining for example is an even scarier book than a movie, IT was scary as hell, try brushing your teeth after reading *that*!

Event Horizon though was for me a truly fearsome story, very good of course, I own it on dvd and watch it again whenever I want to feel the chills! ;P

i really liked silence of the lambs

Psycho. That is the all time scariest movie. Watch that and then try to take a shower.

event horizon was pretty scary for me.

Nightmare on Elm Street

The Shining. Not advisable to watch alone at night. Those creepy girls!!!!

Jaws... people are still afraid of the beach because of this series... trying watching it then go for a swim by yourself at the beach....

oh my, that is a hard one, I love scary movies. I like Stephen King.... and Wes Craven... etc.
Some of my Fav movies are:
Jaws (thanks to this one, I prefer to stay on the hot sand rather go in the water)
Rose Red
The Amityville Horror
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Friday the 13th

The Exorcist. I remember when I was a little girl, I was never afraid of anything. Didn't have to turn the light on to use the bathroom, didn't need a night light. Then I saw that movie...............everything changed. I became a scared-y-cat.

oHh...japanese' scary movies are utterly good...
shutter..
ju-on
and their version of The ring is pretty good too..

Nightmare on Elm Street, the original Halloween.

Wrong Turn, the first one was pretty scary, or maybe Hostel

Arachnophobia.

But only because I'm terrified by spiders :(

For me...Jaws...then Alien.

Of course, I was 7 years old when I saw it in the theatre. It scared the crap out of me. However, I still remember that as the scariest movie I've ever seen, although it's laughable now. I wouldn't go swimming for months after that. I have Jaws 1 and 2 on DVD. Now, I love them...classic horror and a walk down memory lane.

I saw Alien when I was 10 (looooong time ago). That movie scared me so much I was watching it through my fingers, which were over my eyes. Of course, I love the movie now and have it on DVD. I love the second one even more. That movie was awesome.

EMT
I'm 38 now.

The Brotherhood of Satan
Jaws - the beach was never the same again
Cape Fear with Robert De Nero
Wolf Creek underrated and absolutely terrifying
