***SPOILER ALERT***

yes it is very sad. i cried. in the cinema too lol!

well i don't know how far you watched it... but basically at the end bryony is an old women that has become a writer. she's being interviewed for her last book (beacuse she is dying) called Atonement...

It's a mostly autobiographical book (which we have 'read' throughout the movie) but with some important parts omitted.

Cecilia and her boyfriend never got married... never lived together... they both died, cecelia drowning in a subway (flood water from an explosion ??? ) and him dying of what seemed like psychosis?? he went crazy and was all cold... (not sure about this part) but it was the scene in which he was yelling out in his sleep. that's the night he died.

the reason bryony decides to tell the world about the truth is because she is dying, and the reason she made that stuff up is because she wanted to sell books but she also wanted to give them the life they deserved :P

very good movie, i would recommend you watching it all though!!!

Cecilia gets crushed by a bridge waiting for Robbie to come home. Meanwhile, Robbie dies at war. So they both die in the end and it's wicked sad. I actually haven't seen it but I heard it from a friend.

First of all, yes it's sad but it's also a completely moving and touching movie. Probably one of the best movies that I have ever seen. You'd be missing out on a great movie if you think that and trust me you don't want to miss this movie.
Second, getting attached to characters isn't a bad thing at all.
O.k here goes. Both Ceclia and Robbie die in the war. That's really all I want to tell you, because I seriously don't want to spoil the plot for you. Now, I know you've heard that over and over again but it's true.
The ending is sad. But it touches your heart and will make you think about the movie after it's over. Now how many movies can you say that about? It left you thinking?
Hope this helps!
