Will the Oscars be held this year?!

Question: Will the oscars be held this year or will the writer's strike still be going on? Are they going to have it on the red carpet or press conference format? And who do you think are the favorites for this year?

No one is really sure what will happen with the oscars. Its scheduled for Feb. 24 and Jon Stewart is the host. If the strike is over it will go on as normal, if not it will have problems as the Writer's guild has not given it an exemption to the strike. That means writers can't write for it. If the Guild pickets the show it means that stars are not suppose to cross the picket line (the Screen Actor's Guild has agreed to support the writer's and not cross any picket lines). The show has announced they have a back up plan, but have not given details. As far as I know the writer's have also not specifically said they would picket the show. Stars can attend if they writers don't picket. As for favourites, its so hard as the award shows have been all over the place this year.

Probably not, as the writer's strike is still on

For anyone who watched the Oscars nominations, one of the responsible for the ceremony said that the show would go on and they would do the whole show, not only a press conference like the Golden Globes. But the strike is still on, who will write the show? Will the actors cross the picket line for the Oscars if they don't work an agreement with the writers?
I'm really not sure if it will happen. I hope I can sit and watch the Oscars this year.
