I guess if you're talking about the geeks who dress up like the characters to camp out for tickets to a premier for the next movie...I can see your point. But, most people like the movie without being "weird" about it.

same reason people are obessed with Lord of the rings or harry potter,,, it is a loyal fan base. and actually being from the time period of star wars i have to admit i am also a fan they are awesome. not everyone shares the same opinion on movies music or life..
You need to have an open mind and be fairly intelligent to follow 6 movies were released in somewhat reverse order. They're awesom. George Lucas is billionaire thanks to Star Wars so obviously you're the minority.

If you were born in the 70's, you probably loved Star Wars. You have to remember, special effects then were not like they are now. Back then, Star Wars was the ultimate in movie making. I think you had to be a teen when it was coming out to really appreciate it. I guess I am showing my age.
Well that's basically their opinion =\ they could like it because of the setting, plot, characters. For the same reasons you like the things you like .
You have to like Sci - Fi to like Star Wars or any space opera. Star Trek, Battle Star Galactica and even movies like Forbidden Planet are some of my favorites. As for it being boring to you that's ok too. I can't stand Romantic Comedies myself (most of them anyway). If you aren't into Science Fiction you wouldn't understand even if someone came up with a good answer. It's like Jazz music. You either like it or you don't.
Watched firsted 2 minutes of it and could tell that they all sucked BAD
i just simply like it. it is a good movie. i have a collection of 6 episodes.
