Daytime TV may be using some scabs or union writers who have basically renounced their membership in order to keep their shows going.

The non-union opportunities will still be scarce. There will be some for productions that are done by non-attached production companies (true independent films) but the more likely route for work to be produced right now is through side agreements.

The WGA didn't take kindly to scabs in the last strike and I wouldn't be surprised if scabs are blacklisted after this one.

Actually, I think there's some weird rule and now, no one can write. Kinda lame to me.

Kind of an unwritten rule. The call them "scabs", much like with other unions. Think of it this way, once the writers come off strike the scabs will be forced out and then they will be ousted by their peers. Basically ensuring they never work again.
