YUP! i agree with you tottaly, everyone said sodapop was super cute.. and i was like.... uuuuuuuhhhhhhmmmmm no, not really.. but yeah, that book made me weep.. i loved it.... its so sad when the friend dies cuz he gets burned....

and no, i hate that book! the only reason i read it was because it was for novel study.it had nothing to it, they killed a guy, went to a church, and then he died, and the other guy died and it was finished. ugh.

its a good movie, plus you see a lot of the "stars" before they made it big (patrick swayze, c thomas howell, rob lowe, emilio estevez, diane lane, tom cruise, etc.)
I thought the movie was an awful adaptation.
You think Rob Lowe is ugly?? Wow. He's gorgeous even at 43....(He was 19 when this movie was released in 1983)

i'm a big fan too. i own the film and book. favourite characters are ponyboy and johnny cake. favourite scene is when sodapop is getting out of the shower.hehe

I love this book and movie. Soda pop was adorable to old fogies from the 80's. Rob Lowe is not 30, he is older than that and at the time he was considered better looking than Tom Cruise.
