QT isn't saying, but he has said that it is basically the stuff of fantasies for whoever is looking at it.

Its basically a McGuffin ... a plot device to motivate the characters but itself is of very little importance to the actual plot.
The briefcase contains the "MacGuffin". Simple as that. It means an bject in a book or film that seems to be of great importance, but in fact is just a meaningless plot device tat sets into motion character development and resolution. Like the maltese falcon, or ark in indiana jones. The term was coined by Alfred Hitchcock, regarding an old scottish joke. The diamond in Titanic, was basically the MacGuffin. The microfilm in old spy movies was a MacGuffin.
It is never shown in the film, although one of the two people who hold up the diner does say 'It's beautiful', ruling out gold bars which would have provided that yellow light.
One theory is that it contains Marsellus Wallace's soul! The plaster on the back of his head has been mentioned in regard to this theory - possibly concealing the hole where the soul was sucked out.
