Is there a reason for Jack SPARROW and Elizabeth SWAN's last names being bir!

Question: On a very random note, I just realized that their last names are types of birds. Does anyone think there's a symbolic reason for it or just coincidence? Just wondering...

Technically, her last name is Turner now. And Ol' Bootstrap is her father-in-law. Wonder how awkward family gatherings are.

Anyway, it seems to me that the names signify something about the characters. Sparrows are hectic little birds that flutter about getting their business done (building nests and such). Swans, on the other hand, are elegant creatures and seem very proper (in terms of bird etiquette, I suppose). This is no coincidence but a tool writers use to give their characters... well, character!!

I read something about they used birds to represent freedom or something to that effect.

i do not think theres any resason but wow i just realized that too.

its just coincidence! I am a HUGE jack sparrow and pirates of the Caribbean fan and i noticed that 2! and i have been told it was just a coincidence

Probably the writer's cute idea. Pirates generally have birds as pets, maybe that's why!

Probably some kind of gay joke.

The birds don't necessarily describe the characters and SWAN is spelt SWANN in the cast notes.
I would say it is a coincidence, a lot of movies & tv shows characters do have similar names (colours, same initials) if you pay enough attention.
