$18 mill is not much for an opening weekend for rambo.. is it?!

Question: Personally, I thought rambo was a great movie. We haven't had a crazy action movie like that in years. The reviews were very good and everyone I know talks about it. It should've made twice the amount it did.

ITS PROBABLY NOT ALL THAT GREAT MONEY WISE BUT LOOK AT THE MOVIE ITSELF. HOW MANY TIMES CAN ONE RAG TAG SIXTY YEAR OLD MAN TAKE ON AN ENTIRE ARMY BY HIMSELF? STALLONE WASN'T EVEN IN THE MILITARY AND ITS QUESTIONABLE IF HE WAS A DRAFT DODGER OR NOT. HE WAS DEEMED MEDICALLY UNFIT? GREEN BERETS (ARMY SPECIAL FORCES) PERFORM OPERATIONS IN TEAMS NOT ALONE. THE CHARACTER JOHN RAMBO WOULD NOT HAVE EVEN MADE IT THROUGH SFAS (SPECIAL FORCE ASSESSMENT AND SELECTION) LET ALONE THE Q COURSE. SO I SEE WHY THE MOVIE ISN'T DOING SO WELL.

You have to take into consideration ticket prices When the first Rambo was released tickets were much cheaper so 18 M today is much different than 25 yrs ago

Maybe because people thought Rambo was a little played-out. It's probably a good movie but I know my b/f didn't want to see it because he said it kinda looked cheesey the way they made it where Sylvester Stalone is like quadruple old but he's still like wayyy a bad asss or whatever. Maybe it'll do better on DVD.

For that movie, $18 million is excellent, for two reasons:

1.) It didn't cost all that much to make, so it will easily be profitable

2.) Conventional wisdom in Hollywood was that the movie would bomb. The fact that it had an $18 million opening during a traditionally slow time of year at the box office was considered a good surprise.
