What would Casablanca be if Ilsa isn't included in the movie?!

I thought Ilsa had cheesy lines but I wouldn't think the movie would be better without her, she's the plot!

The point of the film is that Rick and Ilsa do the right thing instead of the romantic thing. The war is not the important thing - the romance is. If you assume real sexual tension between Rick and Ilsa, as I do, you may not find her lines so 'cheesy'. The film and the relationship are so iconic in American culture it is hard to imagine the film any different than it is.
Casablanca is a bitter love story. Ilsa is not cheesy at all, it's just an old movie. In old movies there are lines which can appear cheesy to us.
Casablanca wouldn't be what ist is without this love story.
