How can i play an American format DVD?!
Question: i have an american format dvd i bought but cannot play it on my dvd player it just wont work is there anyway i can format it or re-write it to work on an English dvd player many thanks

no, but there is a way to alter your english dvd player to play american dvds. go here http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks
and find your dvd player model and apply the hack. usually it's just a series of commands from your remote control. I have done this with every dvd player i own and it works great.
just buy a region free dvd player.very cheap these days.i have reg 1 & reg 4 discs from usa & australia.check argos or currys,but remember to ask or a region free dvd player.it will also play copies.
two options
1 play it on a region free player
2 change the region on the dvd rom drive on your pc :-
right click "my computer"
choose properties then the hardware tab
click the device manager button
click on the + next to your dvd rom drive
highlight your drive and choose properties
next click the dvd region tab
change the region to 1 [america]
job done
don't forget to change it back - be warned there is a very limited number of times you can do this
I bought an all regions DVD player from Curry's for ￡25. It will play anything. Go ask them.

i buy em from america on the net n av 2 get my fiancee 2 copy them n change the region on the dvd
