I'm looking for a particular version of "A Christmas Carol"...?!

Question: Yes, I know it's February, but I'm asking anyways. This version was shown to me every year in school, around 1981-1985. Here are specific things I remember about it:
-The movie is in color. It is not animated, it's with live people.
-Right before Marley visits Scrooge, Scrooge is eating dinner and a bell starts ringing. Then a second bell, then a third bell, then every bell in the house starts ringing loudly.
-Marley opens a window to show Scrooge spirits floating by.
-There's a red velvet curtain going around Scrooge's bed.
-When the ghost of Christmas present takes Scrooge to his nephew's house, they are playing a game that keeps mentioning a cat. "A <something> cat is a <something> cat."
-The ghost of Christmas future takes Scrooge to the streets of the town and everyone in the town is singing and dancing. Scrooge starts singing and dancing with them, not realizing that they are rejoycing because he's dead.

Does anyone know what version this is?

My favourite version! Scrooge with Albert Finney. It is a musical version and is often seen in theatres.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066344/

Amazon had it in stock on DVD.

I believe this is the version with patrick stewart as scrooge I could be wrong though

...I'm fairly certain that this is the version of "A Christmas Carol", which featured Patrick Stewart as Scrooge...

...the way you describe the 'ghost of Christmas Past' scene, this might even be the musical version, called "Scrooge", and starred Albert Finney as Scrooge...

It's called Scrooge. Starred Albert Finney and was a musical.
Good luck finding it.

Pay no attention to (most of) the previous answers!

The version you are looking for is definitely the musical Scrooge (1970), starring Albert Finney in the title role, and Alec Guinness as the ghost of Jacob Marley.

It contains the scene with the game "The Minister's Cat is a ____ Cat". Later there's the scene with the song "Thank You Very Much", which everyone sings in the streets while Scrooge's coffin is being taken away (and Scrooge doesn't realize they're celebrating his demise).

I love this version, and watch it several times every Christmas!
