No. The ship DID sink, and there weren't enough lifeboats, and some boats were lowered less than half full, etc, but no, there was no poor boy and rich girl, and no fiance who smoothed his mustache and said "Nya-ah-nya!"

It was just a movie; the plot's from the imagination.

the only real thing was the boat sinking, and people dying

it was just a movie

That part of the movie was fictional, but some of the characters in the movie, were actually on the Titanic.

Sorry, it's just a made up love story set against the backdrop of a real event.

totally true.
:]

There were survivors to tell the story but the women was just a character.

The old Rose narrating the story never existed She was just a character for the purpose of a love story angle for the movie Thats all

i have to agree with tiny2kools

The woman was real, she really did tell people her survivor's story but there was supposedly no blue diamond or a man named Jack or love affairs between the rich and the poor. They searched numerous times for the grand entrance and the door they entered through when she died and that she floated to safety on. They've also searched for the diamonds and everything but there has been no proof that people like Jack actually existed. There weren't enough survivors to tell the story and if there were love affairs, most of the survivors are probably dead or they chose not to speak of it again. But it is possible that people left their classes to do what they wanted. Being trapped on a boat for weeks at a time can do a lot to a person.

Rose wasn't real. Only the sinking and the people dying and the events around that.

Although who knows? Something like that might've happened on the boat and we just didn't know!!

there are a lot of true aspects to the story, but that specific one does not exist.

i remember seeing a scene in that film of a boy and his father playing with a top, that was an exact replica of an actual photo from the boat...

The love story was created, none of the survivors told their story like that. Many of the things that occurred in the movie were true. Just to point out a few:
1) the band going down with the ship was true
2) the lifeboats not being filled to capacity was true
3) the ships captain going down with the ship was true also

there is a lot more, but the main part of the story was created for hollywood.

some did survive and the old lady was telling the story ov the real rose who did survive , to tell of her ordeal , loved the film x

There were survivors from the ship that all told their stories, but the character Rose was just that... a character. A fictitious representation of a combination of real survivor accounts and a blockbuster love story.

The Titanic was real but the story was fiction.

No, the romance part is not true. Rose and Jack didn't exist.

The boat was true. It was built in Belfast in Northern Ireland and left cobh in Cork as it did in the begining of the movie, in 1912. It hit an iceberg and sank, most of the people died. I think that it is still at the bottom of the ocean.

i just know that the character played by Kathy Bates is real.
