I recorded it earlier in the week but we started watching and it was all in foreign with subtitles. Can't really see the point in watching a film with subtitles. If I wanted to read I read a book!

This is a recent film, not the 50s one about giant ants!

Black and white movie from the 50's about giant ants in los angeles. a classic sci-fi monster movie.

a great oldie from the golden days of low-budget B&W monster movies.

Yes and it was silly, by todays standards.

i saw a movie called THEM that was late 80's early 90's that had roddy pipper in it and there were aliens that you could only tell were different if you looked into their eyes or something lame like that...he wore sunglasses the whole movie and wore acid washed jeans....hahhaa

Fifties; black&white; sci-fi plot about giant ants caused by first nuclear explosion in New Mexico.

Considered very frightening in its day. Not a bad film; quite thoughtful - though obviously the special effects are dated.

"Them" aka "Ils" (2006) does sound interesting. I just looked it up on IMDB and am intrigued though I've never heard of it prior to your question. That seems odd since it's supposed to be so frightening. I've seen no reference to it anywhere.

IMDB synopsis:
Somewhere in Romania; Clementine is finishing her day of teaching the local kids French. On her way home she spots an abandoned vehicle beside the road. She continues on unaware of what happened to its occupants, a mother and her teenage daughter, the night before. Not that it matters, as tonight, along with her writer beau Lucas, she'll find out first hand. They're awakened during the night by strange phone calls and the TV downstairs being turned on--but this is only beginning of their night of terror as the phone lines go dead, the power goes out and their car goes missing, as they're stalked and set upon by THEM!

I have watched "Them!" many times~if it's the giant ant movie that you're talking about. It's wonderful! Every chance I get, I watch it~so much that my mom teases me about it. Edmund Gwenn, who plays Kris Kringle in the original version of "Miracle on 34th Street", plays the scientist who advises them. He is such a cute, cuddly man, and I always enjoy his work so much.

Hmmm... That's what happens when filmmakers "thieve" a title that's been used before! Sorry. Now you'll know that we like the other film. I've seen only one film with that title.

This is rather like "Deja Vu". At least four films have used that title. Is it lack of imagination? It serves them right if people keep renting the sci fi film instead of this new one.

Perhaps someone will stop by who knows about your film.

NOTE: The Roddy Piper movie is "They Live", not "Them!" Then, there's "They" (2002), which is about critters living in the dark who mark children then come back for them later as adults. Does anyone remember that one? It starts getting a bit confusing, doesn't it?

I don't feel alone if practically every poster also thought of the giant ant movie. Oh! Next time you watch, pay attention to the crazy old man in the medical ward. He starts talking about ants in airplanes. That's Olin Howland, who plays the old man who breaks open the meteorite, releasing the creature in "The Blob" (original)! Fess Parker is in the film, too, and was awarded the part of Daniel Boone by Disney on the strength of his performance in this film~~which isn't the one you want to know about. *SIGH*

If it's the one I'm thinking about, the one about the big ant's. Filmed in 1954, When I was a kid I saw it and it scared me to death. By today's standards though it's not very scary. I saw it again not too long ago and it wasn't as bad as I remembered.

It's about a colony of ant's that are in a nuclear test site and grow to large proportions and attack a nearby town. It's a pretty good movie, worth a look if your into the older style of films.

I had to answer this one because at my work there is a breaker box by my desk and it has this alarm that keeps going off and it sounds just like the ants in the movie. I have been asking everybody at work if they have seen this movie and none of them have. So when you see the movie stop by my work and listen to the ant's in the breaker box!

Well enjoy the movie!
