Matrix question?!

Question: I have to write a utopian society paper and was wondering if any of you thought that the Matrix was a succesful utopia or turned out to be a failing one. I think it could be successful because the city zion survived and life continued in the matrix or in zion. What do you think? By the way utopia means perfect society.

The first version of the Matrix was a true utopia where everything was perfect, but the humans rejected it because it was too unbelievable.

The second version of the matrix was based on the real world in 1997, where a couple years later humans would invent actual artificial intelligence and would spawn the uprising of the robots. So really they are doomed to fail, that is if the Robots didn't intervene.

So it depends on how you look at it. Even though there is Violence, Crime and War inside the Matrix can it be seen as a Utopia because it is where our Minds are happiest? Or is the Utopia outside of the Matrix in Zion because Humans and Robots are at peace, and there is no fighting? The interesting question would be what would happen next? Personally I believe that the Humans would start another war against the robots, just because it is in Human Nature to fight.

i doubt your school would accpet a "Fictional" utopia for a subject

a failing one

Utopias may not exist, even on movies. Look that traitor guy, the one on the 1st movie.

The way you think about film was very enthusiastic,
and that it's your Choice whether to choose Matrix or not...
Whatever society paper you're into, you're going to be fine,
and I think Matrix had nice graphics too..

Thanx for reading,

try the indians... lol I dunno!

well the matrix itself was set to be a utopia but the problems with all utopia theory is that without the pain you cant realize pleasure. its all relative.

DAT W0ULD BE PRETTY G00D, USE IT
N YEA DA MATRIX SOCIETY WAS PRETTY MUCH
PERFECT. BECAUSE THE CITY ZI0N AND OF MATRIX DID A CHANGE OF EVENTS AND TURNED 0UT TO BE A SUCCESSFUL CITY.

I think the movie "the Island" depicts a more utopian Society, based on human perception at least.

Well I think that Matrix both have utopian and distopian values as the real life of the people were beyond an established ruler/society. But if you ask if the utopia was successful, the robot-created utopia got destroyed at the end by rebellions, and in my opinion this makes an utopia unsuccessful.

I think it was a utopia because the architect at the end promised the oracle that he would release all those still connected to the matrix, so in effect they where all set free and the war was over.
