Is Cloverfield the movie possible?!

Question: Is cloverfield possible because you know we havent explored the whole ocean up to today.

Answers: Is cloverfield possible because you know we havent explored the whole ocean up to today.

Everyone who answered yes and especially no is ignorant. Do people want to soundly believe that we are the only planet supporting life in a universe full of black holes and countless galaxies? And who is to say it was an alien, do you know that as humans we have only charted 20% of the oceans deaths? More than 5 species that were thought to have been extinct in the cretaceous period have been found to be still supporting life on this planet. The thing that I would find iffy is if the creature would be able to survive above the surface of that depth of water or within our atmosphere or if would be aggressive at all. The movie, as most “monster” movies are, an exaggeration or what be believe to be as one. To say you know either way is a misinterpretation of the existence of living things and an egotistical assumption that humans and earth are in only a singular sense.

ANYthing is possible...

no at least I hope not those people were stupid

Um, are you kidding? Have you seen the movie? The answer is NO. Unless you believe in little green men and Atlantis and stuff, then the answer is yes, it's going to happen soon.

Most likely no

I'm sure something that big would have been seen in history somewhere so no.

I always say anything is possible... but in this case I would have to say PROBABLY NOT! We have explored the very depths of DEEP SEA, and if a monster like that does exist it wouldn't emerged from it's natural habituate like that.... because of the decrease of sea pressure would probably kill it and it wouldn't survive on land. But hey... you never know! =)

I think it's possible maybe not such a big monster that can't be killed but finding a monster creature in the deep sea that could one day rise and attack us isn't too impossible. Everyday we find new species of animals.

I know a lot of people will say no, but I have to say it is possible because we really don't know what exists in our oceans. We've never had the technology to explore all of it.

yeah, anything is possible

It's *possible* ... however it's highly improbable

Just like alien invasions and the existence of a modern day dinosaur is *possible* - so I'd say it's more likely than the existence of Santa Claus... but not as likely as there being nothing like that ever happening on this planet.

I bet there are huge things at the bottom of the ocean.
There is a story that the sailors in Scandaniva used to tell about a creature they named the Kraken.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kraken

However, I doubt that any sea creature like that could actually survive on land long enough to do the things in Cloverfield.

At least lets hope. LOL

Err, well I suppose to VERY open minded people. But, very far fetched.

No....its not.

Is it possible, yes, but it is also highly improbable. True, we know more about the surface of Mars than we know about the very depths of our own seas, but the creature in Cloverfeild seems too well adapted to land to be confined to the deepest ocean trenches. We would have seen SOME sign of it.

hope not bcuz those people were dumba**es if u ask me

It's possible but exceptionally improbable. Although there are large sections of the ocean that are unexplored, we have a pretty good idea what is and isn't down there. Barring the 'frozen for millions of years and woke up' or 'crashed here from space' ideas, there would need to be a large enough breeding population of these creatures to survive millenia.

If there was a large breeding population, some traces of them would have washed up on shore or there would have been some signs of these gigantic creatures somewhere. There also would PROBABLY be some trace of the ancestors to this creature somewhere in the fossil record, it's highly unlikely that something this big would survive millions of years without leaving any fossils or remains.

So, no. Nothing like this could have survived until today without us knowing about it, you can rest easy.

You never know. The earth has a lot of scerets. Let's just hope not because that would be super scary. But if you think about it if lives in the deep water like that wouldn't you think it wouldn't be able to breathe on the land???????
On another note it was a great movie and it really got people talking. I can't wait for the 2nd one.
