How good is the 1984 movie Amadeus?!

Some parts of Mozart's life have been taken a little out of context, but it is mostly an embellished account of his life from the point of view of another contemporary composer, Antonio Salieri. There are some accurate points, but like any hollywood production, they must spice it up a bit for entertainment value. Overall, I think it was fun and insightful; an interesting look at society in the 18th century.

I've seen it a few times. I liked it. Especially that part when......no just kidding!
I love it and I was not a Mozart fan going in...Tom Hulce and F. Murray Abraham will delight you with their astounding performances.

I watched this movie in 1984 when it came out and found it fantastic then. Last December, my girlfriend told me that she had not watched it yet and I bought the DVD. My second impression of 'Amadeus' was less enthusiastic. Of course, it's still a good movie but in my opinion not a timeless masterpiece. I would give that film a 6 1/2 of 10 if you watch it on TV and not on large cinema screen. Besides that, the sound quality of your equipment is much more important with this movie.
After all, it's definitely worth watching.
