no, it's a great movie
it's a Stanley Kubrick film so it's going to worth a look.
If you don't have surround sound or a big screen tv you will be missing out. If you ever get to see it in a theater that would be the best.
at the very least try to find the widescreen edition

I sure did like it when I first saw it 40 years ago.
I saw it when It first was out, and it seemed very futuristic.. It would have an art deco effect if viewed now for the first time, but the message is pretty much timeless...See it and draw your own conclusions... Definitely worth a view... If you like it, see this movie, a Bruce Dern classic, Silent Running, from about 1972... Great story, surprise ending... Good stuff...
to really understand it you need to watch 2001 and 2010 its sequel. there are also two sequel books 2061 and 3001
