Anyone else upset about the death of Roy Scheider?!

Question: RIP Roy Scheider, 1932-2008.

Best known for his role as Police Chief Martin Brody in Steven Spielberg's "JAWS" (1975), Roy Scheider passed away yesterday at a hospital in Little Rock, AR, after a 2-year battle with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow. He was 75 years old.

Everyone has been busy mourning the death of Heath Ledger, another wonderful actor who was taken too soon, but I thought it would be nice to take a little time out for Roy Scheider, too. He will be missed!

Anyone else care to share?

I had no idea he died.

It is sad.

I grew up watching many of his films and thought he was a terrific actor.

I was surprised when I read it today.
I thought he was a good actor.

whats wrong with you people? roy scheider was 75 years old, and had cancer for a long time. so he died. what did you want, for him to live forever? you didn't know him. he didn't know you. you people who mourn total strangers are a bit insane, and you need to find something interesting in your own life to care about

don't call anyone a douche, little girl, or I'll get your damned account suspended

I understand where you're coming from. There are some of us movie fans who do feel connected to the actors we have watched for so many years, who we have grown up or grown old with, and who we'll always remember because of those great performances they gave us.

Roy Schieder is part of the collective American consciousness because of his performance in Jaws. Now he's gone... and it's sad. Thankfully, he had the benefit of a full life.

My favorite performance was his portrayal of the legendary choreographer, Bob Fosse, in All That Jazz.

All that Jazz

great movie

Scheider was in quite a few movies. Most people will probably remember him as the police chief in "Jaws." He was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Gene Hackman's partner in "French Connection." And one that very few people will remember, but that I think was great, was "Blue Thunder."

Did you know?

Ann Reinking who played Kate Jagger was Fosse's girlfriend in real life?
& Despite playing a part based on herself, the director (Bob Fosse) still made her audition several times before she was cast.

The address on the Dexedrine pill bottle that Joe Gideon used every morning was "61 West 58th Street". Bob Fosse actually lived in apartment 26B at 58 West 58th Street.

Bob Fosse's 16-year-old daughter, Nicole Fosse, appears briefly as a dancer, doing stretches in front of a vending machine, who is asked, "Can't you do that somewhere else?" while Joe Gideon is introducing his new idea for the Air-otica number.

The actress Erzsebet Foldi who played Michelle Gideon (his daughter) became a Born Again Christian soon after making the film and it is the only one she ever did.

Joe Gideon: "If I die, I'm sorry for all the bad things I did to you. And if I live, I'm sorry for all the bad things I'm gonna do to you".

"Now Sinatra will never record it".

Very Much So, his passing will be mourned and I will remember him in my daily prayers. His credits included: "The Seven Ups", "Marathon Man", "2010" and of course, "Jaws". He was a fine actor and his screen presence will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace, Roy.

First I've heard about it. And yes he will be missed. He had took several roles on TV and he was very good in them. The reason that there was such a big deal over Heath Ledger is that it was totally unexpected. He was going to become very big in the industry.

I dont care. Jaws was a good movie. But I mean c'mon, he's no Heath Ledger alright. That's who you should be sad for, he still had alot of good movies in him.
