B/c Hollywood wants to make more money by appealing to todays core audience with newer backgrounds, dialogue, clothing, etc--all they have to do is tweak an old flick that did well the first time. Plus, some people love one movie so much they're intrigued and actually WANT to see another version. Of course, even if they're disappointed, they've already spent the money and the industry wins.

Hollywood is going crazy. No but seriously, maybe they run out of ideas and sometimes directors/producers just think they can do a better job. Sometimes they think that people WANT a remake, like personally I want a remake of "1984" because I didn't like the original.

Then there's also the money. Money, money, money.

I know it really frustrates me that Hollywood thinks everyone is happy watching the same thing over and over but I do have to admit that there are some good remakes. I think Rob Zombie did an awesome job on Halloween.

its not only movies its songs too.

Because they (Follywood) have absolutely NO freakin' respect for the classics, and are just motivated by $$$.

agreed. hollywood is turning out more and more remakes of old movies and lackluster television shows. they've officially run out of ideas.

It's all about the Benjamins. Studios don't want to take chances on new scripts. Why bother if they can ensure to make millions doing a remake of a movie that already has a huge fanbase. Take Alvin and the Chipmunks. Every 3-12 year old in America saw that movie and brought at least one parent/guardian/older sibling with each of them. That movie cost maybe $20 million to make and made $50-ish. Why bother trying to make another Giggli or Woody Allen flick?

In my opinion, studios are slowing killing the art in cinema for the business of cinema.

People have apparently run out of original ideas so they're trying what's worked before.

It's all about the Benjamin's,Honey!
And, as a point of fact,Hollywood has been dong this almost sice there were movies, the idea being,if they made money once, they'll make money again. For instance,A Star Is Born has been re-made 3 times(twice as a musical drama)The Woemen was re-made as a musical(hardly as good as the original)The Maltese Falcon was filmed three times before they got it right and so on. And,as a pundit once said,"Nobody has ever lost money undetestimating the public" With (very)rare exceptions has the original been improved upon,I agree, but as long as there's buck to be squeezed,we're stuck

the reason there are remaking this movie it's because of the genration is started to get into the movies from the 80's so they are remaking them for the genration now. Alivn and the chipmunks was a cartoon in the 80's it was never made into a movie until now and halloween will rob zombie did a really great job doing this movie because he made it's own. Some movies that are remade are not as good as the orginal like texas chain saw was remade and it was ok but i like the orginal over the new verison. Everyone has there own option.

Hollywood has contempt for us, and for themselves. Remember the summer of Threes? Shrek 3, Spidey 3, POTC 3, everything three!

But you all went and SAW Shrek 3, and Spidey 3, etc.

So Hollywood continues to spit on us by making the same movies...only worse! The only way Hollywood will learn is by hitting them in the $ !

Unfortunately, young people have to go somewhere on their dates, so they keep going to these sh*tty movies and sitting through Rocky 17, Indiana Jones 9, Rambo 34, Star Wars 113, etc.

Don't go! Go roller skating, or bowling, or to a party, or have a dance! Get a group together and (shudder) read a book and talk about it! Or maybe just a magazine, but stop giving Hollywood your entertainment $ for the drek they're serving!

There's a good market in remakes. There's no turning back now. I'm more annoyed with it in the music industry because it usually involves an individual remaking classic songs and butchering it into their own form. If you're going to sing the song, sing the song, don't add all the hooplah. Since movies take alot more people to put a work together, it's generally more tolerable.

Because they think another group of people can do better, but I don't think they can. Some maybe but all in all just a flop just like the original. But there are some originals that don't need to be remade I think.

wow. you sure are patient. you are only now becoming annoyed at all the remakes? good for you!

there is no originality left in Hollywood. seriously.
