Film......Cloverfield.......!

Question: Your thoughts on this film?

I thought it was absolute poo. No storyline, no structure, just a couple of rip offs from War of the Worlds - couldnt see most of it cos the camera was way too jumpy, (and would you really keep on filming if that was coming after you detroying and killing everything and everyone?!) and I still have no idea:
1) what that thing was
2) why it was there
3) why it decided to randomly detroy Manhattan

Does anyone know? Id be grateful for your thoughts and answers please, at least then i will have some valid reason for wasting 80 mins of my life that i'll never get back lol.....

1,) It was a seas based 4 legged creature with little appendage sticking out its abdomen.
*cloverfield was then name of street the production studios was located at
2. There was no plot really given, supposedly it was video footage released by the Department of Defense. Sort of a Jaws/ King Kong horror idea going.
3. Sort of like 2: It could be in response to such environment, like how a mountain lion reacts to animals when its habitat shrinks.
The movie did not give a good plot for such attack but its supposed to portray the victimization of a happy ring of friends under such crises which can be viewed by indie styled home camcorder.

The "movie critics" gave it a thumbs down.

Thank goodness someone else that agrees with me I went to see it last week and I thought that it was such a rubbish film. Where I went to see it about 10 people walked out because they thought that it was rubbish.

I wish I could answer your questions but I have no idea either, and would any solider really allow 3 people to go looking for their friend knowing that they would be in danger, complete and utter rubbish

1) It was an alien from outer space
2) It was here because it crashed on earth in the water at Coney Island.
3) It was in NYC because it crash landed in that water at Coney Island.

I thought the movie was brillient. Yeah it was a pain dealing with the camera work since it was all done on hand held video cameras and there have been reports of viewers getting sick especially those with motion sickness.

But there was a storyline. Watching the destruction of NYC at the hands of an unknown indestructible monster and dealing with the repercussions like getting help to a friend and losing fiends and family members.

I would have ran the hell out of the city if I lived there but in reality I live like 15 minutes from the city over in jersey.

The unanswered questions and the herky-jerky camera style are part of the film's appeal, believe it or not. We leave the theater not understanding why or what the thing was... we only know that it annihilated NYC, and that it splashed down in the waters behind Coney Island. The rest is up to your imagination. Why do movies have to be neatly wrapped up in the end? I don't think this is necessary in order to have an enjoyable movie experience.

like what most people say...its the director's style...he wants you to stay curious...and some maight even want to continue watching the sequel..

I have no idea, i've only seen parts of it, can't really get into it, i just remember the camera jumping around. At least i knw the whole film is like that. Damn

Well, only people like you dont understand the film.
There was a storyline . You just didn't understand it.
Theres a structure. The whole film is portrayed by a couples camera.

How would you like it if you show someone your home video about your family and people criticize it?

1) Its a giant sea monster awaken from a deep slumber.
heres a picture.

2) It was confused, spooked to see the Human civilisation, lost and disorientated.

3) It was close to Coney Island.

i enjoyed it and i thought it was really good, it had good effects and loved the idea of using a hand held camera, i do agree though about what the thing was but maybe they'll do a coverfield 2 to give us some answers

I think in Cloverfield it was a descent movie, but there were a couple of flaws. The special effects were pretty descent but the one shot that stood out to ruin the movie was when the beast was standing over Hub. It was made to look like a giant fly, so that's what I would assume it was. But the story line wasn't as weak as you thought it was, the main flaw was that the director got too caught up in being creative with the handheld camera shots and it became way too shaky. Overall the movie was about a 6-7 out of 10. It didn't live up to the hype and fell short but was still a descent si-fi movie.

Another rushed together film, with a crap storyline and cardboard acting.
Once in a while a great film is released.
This film is "not" one of them and belongs in the bin alongside `I am Legend`.
