Bad horror movies are centered around oversexed teenagers, because it's a way to get an audience.
Intelligent horror movies aren't.
Because sex sells and it has become form in horror movies to show skin!
yeah iv noticed that and those ones are rarely scary, you should check out the descent, it dont feature sex at all really and it is scary
Oversexed teenagers are the only ones who care about that kind of horror movie. It's geared to them.
And if adults are watching, they are thinking of their own teenage kids, and enjoying oversexed teenagers getting slashed.
Because they are stupid and always run up-stairs.
I guess they think that is what the public wants.
What really bugs me about horror films, is there always seems to be a lot of screamers. They are being pursued by something, so what do they do? Scream, giving their location away, so the monster can readily find them, of course.
Because that's who buys the tickets -- date movies
Part of it is that, like everyone else said, sex sells. But it started out partly in an attempt to keep kids from being like that. It's like this: the kids have sex, they get their throats ripped out. Do you want your throat ripped out? No? Then don't have sex.
They do it so they can mix in some T&A with the violence, make the movie appeal to a wider audience, and make more money. It's just about the dollar, plain and simple.
The oversexed teenagers are essentially used as "cannon fodder" in horror movies... You as the viewer don't care as much if they die because they are (allegedly) immoral. It's kind of a running joke through horror movies, you can almost always pick out who is going to die. Horror movies would be entirely unwatchable if you cared about every single person who died.
Plus... sex sells. Haha
