Answers: Was goonies really based on a true story? the whole chester copperpot thing seems like it could be true
It's an adventure and fiction, but brilliant.I remember many years ago, there was a tv mini series called The Famous Five. This film is inspired from that weekly show.
I'm pretty sure it's not true. I watched the "Making of the Goonies" on the DVD and Stephen Spielberg said that it's just a story about kids going on a treasure hunt. I think that they would have to say "Based on a true story" if the story was true.
I don't think so
but I wished I was a goonie kid
I grew up in Oregon and not too far from Astoria, but as far as I know it is not true. The story is loosely based on a supposed pirate from the early exploration days who may or may not have really existed (One-eyed Willy). But the whole 1935 Chester Copperpot character is made up by Steven Spielberg. Otherwise I would have heard about him. I did a little digging online and it appears my suspicions were correct and there is no Chester.
The picture you see here in my link is a movie prop and not a real newspaper article. The newspaper in Astoria is not called the "Astoria Legend," like the picture suggests. It is actually called "The Daily Astorian."
I love that movie though. I have childhood friend that was an extra in that movie.
who told you that nonscence? Yes it is true Steven Speilberg made it up! God I hate that movie,.. When i channel surf and run into it, I have to head to the bathroom and puke. Totally unwatchable!
