The Wizard of Oz....?!

Question: I am playing Dorthy in our production of The Wizard of Oz, what can I do to make her extra special?

(P.S. I know what I am doing, so please do not suggest that I do my own charecter research, which I am doing, I want opinions...)
Thanks

I think the costume is important (if you have a say in it). The Wiz of Oz is a movie, not like other plays, so people will expect her to look just like she did in the movie.

I guess for any play you have to consider the motivations behind what they character is doing, and the feelings of each scene. The fear, yet wonder of being in Oz, the motherly advice from Glenda seems to comfort her, and then she forgets her own fears to help others along the way. Also, remember little Toto. In the opening scenes she holds him very tight and pats him alot. It's not till she starts following the Yellow Brick Road that she puts him down (i think). Most plays i've seen, Dorothy never even touches Toto. He might be a toy in a basket (in your play), but he is any important part of the movie and therefore your play.

You've got Dorothy's attitude all wrong so far. So no help from me, my little pretty!

Rewatch the original film over and over...listen to Judy Garland songs...she defined that character...imagine yourself her age (if you aren't already.)

make sure to wear to braid with blue ribbions. have a dog in a basket. when playing her make sure to look down ocassionally at the dog. of course wear the the red shoes. and pratice to make sure u hit that note in over rainbow. and remiber to not haveyour hair in perfect braids but not toatlly messed up either. thats how i did it when i was dorhty
