There a couple of movies that were great. Not Without My Daughter is one. If you haven't seen it you should. It was very moving for me what the mother had to go through to get her daughter out of the control of her husband and his family in Iran and back to America.
I also like Blood In Blood Out. It tells a story of three Latinos in California. When they are young they are in a gang. As they grow older they all seem to have grown in different directions. One is a felon, one goes to the Marines and later police work and one is a brilliant painter. It is a long movie but worth watching.
ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVS IS THE NOTEBOOK. ITS A ROMANCE.
