Help me remember this movie?!

Question: It was from a movie I watched forever ago. It was kind of based on Beauty and the Beast, but I think the old guy was a violin teacher. He was called a "beast" because he was all cut up on his face? I can't remember too much, but really want to see it again to relive my childhood! Thanks :)

Is it animated or live action? I have some ideas of what this might be, but I want to narrow them down more.

Rigoletto (1993)
IMDB synopsis:
Things are not going well in the Depression-era town of Castle Gate. Mr. Ribaldi, a mysterious rich man with a disfigured face and an abrasive personality, has just bought and moved into a long-vacant mansion. Bonnie, an adolescent girl who loves to sing, ends up working for Ribaldi so that her family can stay in their house. But Ribaldi is quite an accomplished musician himself, and he is soon giving Bonnie voice lessons. Meanwhile, local businesses are being shut down by foreclosures, and the townspeople suspect Ribaldi is responsible.

From Wikipedia:
"Rigoletto" is a 1993 musical fantasy/drama produced for Feature Films for Families and described by Debbie James as "kind of a cross between "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Man Without a Face", but with biblical themes". It also has been described as a cross between "Phantom of the Opera" and "Beauty and the Beast".
The film, set in Depression-era America, depicts a young girl, Bonnie (Ivey Lloyd), who enjoys singing and gets lessons from the "monster" Ribaldi (Joseph Paur). The townspeople suspect Ribaldi of foreclosing on mortgages all over town, but he is actually helping people with medical problems. Bonnie learns the lesson that true beauty is inside one's heart.
The movie was written and directed by Leo D. Paur, who formerly worked as a writer on animated series such as "The Transformers". There are several points analogous in the movie and the Verdi opera of the same name: There is a beautiful daughter, there is fighting with words, and there is a "curse", but the movie is otherwise unrelated.
The most memorable songs from the movie include: "Let Me In", "The Curse", "April Child", and "The Melody Within".

However, he doesn't teach violin. The movie features several songs. Perhaps it's another film I have in mind. // I've looked at several others, but none have been at all right. *sigh*

IDK... I've not seen that movie but I liked Beauty and The Beast so I'd like to know too. Sorry!

I remember that too! We watched it in my Music Class once, too bad i can't remember the name. :(

Are you sure it wasn't the original 'PHANTOM OF THE OPERA" His face was seriously damaged and he was obsessed with this beautiful opera singer.

If not it was definitely a CLASSIC and it is hard to get also but at least they have made a remake of it.

GOOD LUCK, I HOPE SOMEONE KNOWS THE ONE YOU WANT.

I can't remember.
