Movie/Play Closer?!

Question: Why did they put the words "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION" at the bottom of the screen during the movie? Also, in the play, how does Alica/Jane die at the end?

You must be watching a bootlegged awards screener of the movie. These are versions of the film sent out at the end of the year to critics, Academy members, and other awards voters. The words "For Your Consideration" don't appear in regular theatrical or DVD versions of the movie, but they flash on the screen every once in a while on awards screener videos for two reasons: First, to remind voters to consider the movie, its stars, and its creators for awards; and second, to frustrate piracy. Obviously, this didn't work so well in the case of the copy you're watching.

In the play, I think she dies offstage, hit by a car.

she doesnt die at the end in the movie..i never seen the play but she moves back to new york at the end of the movie because they show her walking in a huge crowd of people in times square with that same song playing as in the beginning of the movie and i dont recall the words "for your consideration" at the bottom of the screen during the movie...i own it and never seen that but i'll look again the next time i watch it..i love that movie
