The Academy Awards Oscars show is a complete farce and waste of time.

Also, have you noticed that the only movies that ever get nominated, are the ones that get released near the time the Oscars roll around?

They NEVER go back to movies produced during the Spring or Summer.

All the Awards shows suck, and is just the entertainment industry self-promoting its truckloads of crap on the American people.

Are there good movies? Heck, yes, but it's the quality ones that are popular with audiences, not a bunch of insular entertainment producers and butt licking wannabes.

Oh, don't forget, some actor or director will make some lame a.s.s. political comment about the government, our President, the war or Darfur.

People are entitled to opinions, but actors should express them elsewhere.

Not since Billy Crystal hosted the Academy Awards have they been entertaining.

The only good parts are when they look back at the actors/directors, etc., who have died, because these are the ones who made the really good movies in the past.
Hell, yeah!! Unforgiven was a great, great movie worthy of awards. Report It

    I agree. Course I would say the same thing about the Grammies, the Country Music awards and on and on.
    LOL! So they can all give each other big smooches on the rear-end!
    Well,if you look at like this;that "Stars" are the closest thing America has to royalty,then,The Academy Awards can be likened to The Queen's Gala(The Brits have their own equivalent to the Oscar) and,an award like this used to mean a lo more in some ways than it did 20 years ago.It still means that if you're a winner,for the rest of your career,you'll be refereed to as,"Academy Award Winner"this or that(and it'll be in your obituary you can bet)in some ways it might seem outdated(thank God they got rid of those stupid production numbers)but,I lived long enough to see people of color go home with Oscars in major categories,something which for decades was denied them and by extension,us.I was up out of my chair when Halle Berry won best actress and I was as proud of her as if I knew her.Which brings me to the present.In the old days,no one who hd an Oscar under their belts would do some of the turkeys that Halle &Hilary Swank have done since winning,but in the old studio system,they wouldn't have been allowed to.
    Daniel Day Lewis? Javier Bardem? Coen Brothers? Sure!!! They're all "hacks"!!!! Everyone should stop making crap!
    Why do they still bother with the Super Bowl.
