Cinema's sweet-eating policy sucks?!
Question: a cinema refused entry to a man because he had bought his own supply of sweets,rather than the overly inflated ones cinemas rip off ppl every visit

That's pathetic on the cinema's part.
Now this patron probably won't return. They are just doing themselves a disservice.

Most people hide their candies, and men don't carry purses, so it's hard for males to "sneak in" any goodies. I actually have this fear of being put out because someone would find my stash of goodies when I go to the theatre. A gf or wife helps for hiding the goods.
Having said all that, I agree that the prices are ASTRONOMICAL and I don't even bother with the drinks anymore.
I had a part-time job many years back cleaning movie theatres. It was actually fun, but the late hours got old.
Anyway, not only did I discover loose change, wallets (which I returned to the theatre), misc. pens, toys, etc., but PLENTY of booze bottles and beer cans.
People sneak in a bunch of things.
It's just weird this cinema did this, because THEY will lose out money.

Its expensive enough to go to the cinema these days, especially with kids as well. We always buy a hotdog each, but why pay double for a packet of sweets?
If cinemas want their patrons to buy their confectionery, then they should charge acceptable prices for it!
of course the theater wont want you bringing in your own stuff, they want to rip you off even MORE after buying a ticket for ten bucks. its a complete scammm
It's definitely about money but just think if they allowed this. You would have 16 year old kids bringing in booze. Then they would have lawsuits and other pleasantries to deal with. It's better for them that they have this rule that way they are not liable if people sneak things in (like I do with my own sweets).

Actually a good portion of the cinemas revenue comes from concessions....they make more profit off of those sales than they do from the sale of tickets for movies...-it sucks to have to buy their candies... it is marked up toooooo much. That is why you stuff you pockets or purse with goodies before hand....
I've brought stuff in of my own loads of times, with no trouble... I think it could just be this 'Cineworld' firm, Odeon would never do that.
Kids bringing in alcohol and becoming disruptive is different, but if I was searched and forced to hand over my sweets, I would never return to that particular cinema. It's pushing things too far. Needless to say, I have no plans to go to a Cineworld at any point, that policy borders on the fascistic.
People should Boycott this Cinema,,Or everyone turn up with there own Sweets,,,,
This policy is the only thing they make money off of. They charge you like seven bucks for a drink, it's stupid! When ever I go to the movies we take our own stuff and keep it in our purse until we're watching the movie. We have never gotten in trouble.
I think its disgusting. Im diabetic and I cant eat anything they sell at the cinema. Even if I could I wouldnt though because they charge WAY too much for things.
I agree! It does suck! I can't believe the prices they charge just for a couple of sweets. It's ridiculous! I don't see what the big deal is about taking your own food. As long as you pay to see the film i think you should be able to take your own food.
