Is "Silence of the Lambs" better than "Hannibal"?!
Question: Is it "Hannibal" or "Red Dragon"? I'm kind of confused. :-\
I know that Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins acted in both films, old and new. Question is, which one is better, the original or the sequel?

In the series of books, the stories go in the order:
Red Dragon
Silence of the Lambs
Hannibal
Then later, he wrote a book called "Hannibal Rising", which takes place *before* the other three books.
The movies were made in sort of a weird order.
First, there was a movie called "Manhunter", which was based on "Red Dragon", and starred Brian Cox as Hannibal Lechter and William Peterson (from CSI.) (1986).
Then years later, they made "Silence of the Lambs", starring Anthony Hopkins and Jodi Foster. (1991)
Then they made "Hannibal", starring Anthony Hopkins and *Julianne Moore* as Clarice. (The same character that Jodi Foster did-Jodi Foster did not like the script and did not return to play the role. Julianne Moore took the role instead.) (2001)
Then they re-made "Red Dragon", starring Ralph Fiennes, Anthony Hopkins, and Edward Norton. (2002)
"Hannibal Rising" was made last. (2007) Anthony Hopkins is not in that one, because the story was about his youth.
In my opinion, "Manhunter" was fantastic, "Silence of the Lambs" was fantastic. "Red Dragon" was very good. "Hannibal" was appallingly horrible, and "Hannibal Rising was OK.

Silence of the Lambs is better I sat on the edge of my seat squeezing my bf arm off I have now watched it so many times I can control myself but it is an all time classic. No there are three Red Dragon Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs
Silence of the Lambs is far superior to either Hannibal or Red Dragon. These are two different movies, both sequels, although Red Dragon takes place before Silence. Red Dragon is actually a remake of Manhunter, made before Silence, without Hopkins.
Silence of the lambs is the best film...better than both red dragon and hannibal...although all are good.
Jodie foster has only been in silence of the lambs, not hannibal...julianne moore played clarice in hannibal, and the character of clarice has nothing to do with red dragon...therefore neither jodie or julianne is in that.
sir anthony hopkins is in all...but his best performance is in silence of the lambs
YES! Much! The only other Hannibal Lecter movie to come close is Manhunter with Brian Cox in the lead

Jodie Foster wasn't in both films, she only appeared in Silence of the Lambs. Silence of the Lambs was better acted and written, Hannibal had more gore and the book delved more into the Hannibal/Clareece's romance. Red Dragon was also a brillant novel and well acted movie but didn't have Clareece and very little Hannibal.
"Silence" was SO good,it was an Oscar winner,rare for a film of it's type,but just try NOT watching it! Well deserved Best Picture too and,I'm sorry to say it,I liked"Hannibal"(even though they changed the ending)but"Silence Of The Lambs"is by far the better of the two

Hannibal is way better.
But i thought Hannibal Rising was pretty good too... and that boy is beautiful.
