Hard to answer when neither character was given any real development, other than who they were, and what they were capable off.
But i'd say Reese, as his was a more impossible situation he was getting into, and he knew it from the start.

they are both extremely DULL. he's not a bad actor, but the characters are sooo bland! there is nothing special about him. I think thats the point really. take attention away from the charater so to highlight the monsters and the environments.
Hicks is my favourite character of the two. I like him firstly because he's so quotable "Express elevator to hell, goin' down!" etc. 2ndly because he's a wonderful military movie archetype (The cocksure loudmouth who panics when the situation gets out of control).
Interestingly enough, reading a bit more perhaps into the script than was intended, Hicks makes you wonder what kind of a cowboy outfit the Colonial Marines are if they let in screwups like Hicks!
