What's your favorite camera shot of all time?!

Question: Mine is the opening shot in Boogie Nights. Paul Thomas Anderson used one shot to introduce the movie and the whole cast.

Another is the long moving shot in Godfather I where it goes from the bedroom to the backyard.

Both of those give me goosebumps to even think about.

What are some of your favorites and why?

I have a couple of them - the first is the shot in 'Notorious' where they go from a crane shot of the entire party all the way to a close up of the key to the wine cellar in Ingrid Bergman's hand - Hitchcock's way of telling the audience what's really important in the scene.

Another of mine is from 'North By Northwest' when James Mason finds out that Eva Marie Saint is a spy for the US government. He has some dialogue saying that the situation is best resolved from a great height over water. At the same time Hitchcock pulled the camera up over James Mason so that you not only know that she's going to be thrown out of the plane they're about to board, you know what it's going to feel like. Most other directors would have just shot the dialogue and continued on - Hitchcock with that subtle camera movement added an entirely new dimension which is my favorite kind of film shot.

I like the down-low camera angle used in Bad Boys. Also like the feather chasing in Forest Gump.

In Jurassic park 1 , When then The fossil guy sees the brontosaurus for the first time...I felt like I was there.

Gone With the Wind - the longshot at the end silhouetting Scarlette and Tara against the sky is so moving.

can not think of anything at the moment but gosh arent you guys deep x

House of 1000 Corpses

Cop is on his knees and gun is to his head and the music stops and there is a really slow panning shot w/ no sound that lasts just a touch longer than you would expect so that, for a moment, you think something's wrong w/ the movie and then it's broken by the gunshot and the cop falling. That shot was so amazing in the theater it was insane.
