Nope. Not by any means. He just knew what it was and the consequence of taking it. Gandalf let him in the know and he actually listened unlike a certain other member of the fellowship.
No, he was strong enough to deny his urge to take it. And he knew it was bad and he feared being like his relative.
He wasn't so much immune to it, as much as he avoided it at all costs. He knew what obsessing over the ring can do to a man, and simply overcame the temptation to take posession of the ring.
Not really, he just had better sense and knew that it was impossible to tame the ring and had the power to control himself.
