Who would be the better director to make a "Wicked: The Musical" Movie!
Question: I know there is no movie planned.
But if there was, who would be a better director?
The director's of four fairly recent adaptations come to mind:
1) Chris Columbus ("Rent")
2) Joel Schumaker ("Phantom of the Opera")
3) Adam Shankman ("Hairspray")
4) Tim Burton ("Sweeney Todd")
5) Someone else?

I think either Adam Shankman or Chris Columbus- it would be neat to see how either would envision the world of Oz. And, continuing with some of your suggestions, I think even John Waters would be interesting. He would get the depth of the characters, but it would be fun.

wicked is an AMAZING play.....
actually jim hill reports that universal is planning on making a movie of wicked when the hype for the musical dies down which will be several years but it has been discussed, i think chris columbus would do a great job with it, tim burton has done lots of good work but his movies are too distinct and theyre not the vibe i want to see with wicked, man i love that show!
I think Joel Schumaker. I hope they use Idina Menzel...she is the perfect Elphaba.
If it is an adaptation of the musical then probably Schumaker or Burton
If it is an adaptation of the book then Alfonso Cuaron
What about Alfonso Curan? He'd do really well with the grandness of the sets. Anways, my vote is not for Tim Burton. He'd make the movie too dark, and it would lose it's whimsical feel.
