Question: There cant be one single answer for this question. Coz, we appreciate different types of movies in different types of categories in different types of our own moods. When we can follow more languages, our list gets growing.
I should add one more important thing here. When our age advances, the favourites and choices of our younger days gets changed or evolved according to our tastes of our age today. This is because we keep learning and updating, and in this way growing, in our life.

I would have to say "Forrest Gump" because it had all of the elements that a movie could have, except for horror. The plot was interesting and the use of cinematography is awesome!

One of the best movies I ever saw was on SBS late one night. It was a belgean movie set during WW2. The main charaxtor was a member of either the french or belgean resistance. It was about his campaigns against the Nazi's and his escape from not one but three dif concentration camps. Ripper movie.
As for Hollywood/british movies go, Starwars IV -VI, Princess bride, Shawshank redemption, Life of Brian, Wedding singer, Quest for the holy grail, Bridge over the river Kwai, El Mariachi/Desparado/Once upon a time in Mexico

I think MATRIX (whole series) was best movie I've ever scene. It has such a fantastic sequences that are copied today also & other than this it has spirituality and deep thinking.
I would have to say forrest gump because it had all of the things that a movie could have,to make it marvellous, except horror. The plot was interesting and the use of words was just totally awesome!
