Question: It was most definately Clash of the Titans from 1981. Harry Hamlin played Perseus who fought Medusa. It was called stop motion photography . Ray Harryhausen was the special effects guy. He was responsible for Jason & The argonauts, Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Sinbad & the Eye of the Tiger and Also a Gullivers Travels movie. (He used this technique in them all.)
